Berlin Night Character: Prosecutor – the place of trial.

Monday the 18th of April; early morning peak hour is nothing unusual in the city of Berlin. For Carl Harge this is what confronts with every morning before yet another chaotic day in the courts; a place of trial. Chaotic may as well be Carl’s middle name because his life doesn’t seem to ever give a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel. Work plus his private life is very stressful, being a father figure to three girls in a marriage where he is completely reliant on the family income. His wife lost her job and has not found work, her attitude is the reason why this is so. Carl has been married to his wife Courtney for eight years, their three daughters are Kate; 8, Rochelle; 5 and Kylie; 3. Courtney looks after the girls and takes them to school and kindergarten. During the day Courtney cleans the house while Carl is out working for the family. This is only a part of Carl’s stressful life, most of his time is spend on the job, which is prosecuting people in court; a place of trial.

Carl loves his family but needs a get away from all the stresses in his life, his escape is work which seems farfetched but its something he enjoys. Carl has been a prosecutor for five years and starting when he was 27 years of age. Being relatively young Carl is so focused on his career that he rarely takes time to engage in his hobbies. Carl loves architecture in particular new age architecture and enjoys doing his own renovations around his residence. His home is perched on a hillside which is situated roughly forty five minutes from the city of Berlin. The home is a masterpiece which has transformed over the years. It started as a modest home which has become a project for Carl, slow project nevertheless.

The remote landscape around Carl’s residence is the only thing close to an escape, which doesn’t get much notice due to his busy lifestyle. The luscious long green grass supplies beautiful views across the city of Berlin. When Carl is at home his favoured hangout is on the second level; it’s the room which occupies the best vantage point of the city. Here is where Carl can sit alone and reflect on work and life in general.

Carl’s dream is to have his wife, Courtney working to help support the family along with him but at the moment he cannot see this happening in the near future. He loves his family and always will but at times struggles to find time due to his workload supporting the financial future of the Harge’s.

mmm brad, maybe if carl didn't have such a masterpiece of a home there wouldn't be so much financial pressure. so what do you think is the architectural outcome of this?

Carl would rather live in a modern house and deal with his financial pressure than live in a dull boring home living unhappily.
