This is the house of Mr. C. Harge. It is situated in a remote location overlooking the city. The Hillside on which the house sits is luscious green grass. The house has been a project for Carl forever evolving into an even more amazing residence. The house reflects Carl’s power, being a prosecutor. His house overlooks the whole city so not a second goes by without vision of what is going on around him.

Carl’s house has many rooms which are evident in the design. The modern style makes it a unique home in this part of the country side.

Although the house boasts big rooms; the kitchen is yet to be renovated. It is very small with minimal bench space. This is Carl’s next project when he finds the time to get around to it. Carl plans on extending the kitchen so that it can have more storage and an island bench where food can be prepared.

The rest of the house is pretty well completed, with the tower stair case a real feature of the house. This tower has many windows which allow ample natural light to filter into the house. It also has beautiful views of the city from the stairwell tower.

Carl designed the house with one room which is completely empty. This is where he can sit and reflect on life and relieve the stresses as he overlooks the city through the large fenestration, which looks out the front of the house. In this room there is a circular mirror where the habitant can look into this mirror and have nothing but themselves to focus on. This helps with reflecting on ourselves and where we currently stand in life.

The study is situated on the ground level away from all interruptions. The study has views of the luscious green fields which surround the house. These pleasant views help focus the mind.

The bathroom is simple in its design, housing a bathtub, toilet shower and bath sink. The bathroom is situated on the upper level next to the master bedroom. The master bedroom is positioned at the front of the house on the upper level directly above the study. The bedroom has a floor level king size bed with a leather chair in the corner of the bedroom.

The dining table has views out of the front windows of the house. The window has an unusual shape to allow light to filter along the walls of the space and not directly into the centre of the room where the dining table is sitting.

The lower level of the house in outdoor entertaining area with storage units build into the house. Carl has future plans of building out and creating a bigger footprint for the house.

As his kids grow older he may build more entertaining rooms and also had thought of adding a pool in the future.

Berlin Night Character: Prosecutor – the place of trial.

Monday the 18th of April; early morning peak hour is nothing unusual in the city of Berlin. For Carl Harge this is what confronts with every morning before yet another chaotic day in the courts; a place of trial. Chaotic may as well be Carl’s middle name because his life doesn’t seem to ever give a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel. Work plus his private life is very stressful, being a father figure to three girls in a marriage where he is completely reliant on the family income. His wife lost her job and has not found work, her attitude is the reason why this is so. Carl has been married to his wife Courtney for eight years, their three daughters are Kate; 8, Rochelle; 5 and Kylie; 3. Courtney looks after the girls and takes them to school and kindergarten. During the day Courtney cleans the house while Carl is out working for the family. This is only a part of Carl’s stressful life, most of his time is spend on the job, which is prosecuting people in court; a place of trial.

Carl loves his family but needs a get away from all the stresses in his life, his escape is work which seems farfetched but its something he enjoys. Carl has been a prosecutor for five years and starting when he was 27 years of age. Being relatively young Carl is so focused on his career that he rarely takes time to engage in his hobbies. Carl loves architecture in particular new age architecture and enjoys doing his own renovations around his residence. His home is perched on a hillside which is situated roughly forty five minutes from the city of Berlin. The home is a masterpiece which has transformed over the years. It started as a modest home which has become a project for Carl, slow project nevertheless.

The remote landscape around Carl’s residence is the only thing close to an escape, which doesn’t get much notice due to his busy lifestyle. The luscious long green grass supplies beautiful views across the city of Berlin. When Carl is at home his favoured hangout is on the second level; it’s the room which occupies the best vantage point of the city. Here is where Carl can sit alone and reflect on work and life in general.

Carl’s dream is to have his wife, Courtney working to help support the family along with him but at the moment he cannot see this happening in the near future. He loves his family and always will but at times struggles to find time due to his workload supporting the financial future of the Harge’s.
